What does anyone think of the Enterprise Rent-a-Car Management Trainee Program?

Question by : What does anyone think of the Enterprise Rent-a-Car Management Trainee Program?
So I just graduated school with my B.S. in marketing, and am looking for a job, but with this market I’m having a tough time finding one. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the rent-a-car management trainee program. I know in the future I would like to be something like a marketing coordinator or a project manager. Does anyone have any input on this program or know if this would be a good place to apply to get my foot in the door?

everyone they hire is a “manager trainee”…….
you will pick up and deliver cars, mainly at airports and car dealerships (warranty replacement)

this is NOT training to do marketing or in any way use your degree, it is a low wage job with incentives/bonuses/commissions.
they are always hiring because they have extremely high turnover. you can do this while you look for something better, and who knows a corporate position in marketing may be just around the bend (anything is possible as long as you believe)

Project and Programme Management Diploma – costs?

Question by Rachel C: Project and Programme Management Diploma – costs?
Am trying to understand the different project qualifications that are out there, their respective benefits and costs.

Every training centre seems very cagey about the costs of the PPM Diploma, although I’ve seen hints of around £8,000.

Can anyone shed any light on costs associated with this qualification

Many thanks

The difference between a construction manager and a project manager.?

Question by Aguilar’s Concrete: The difference between a construction manager and a project manager.?
I want a career in the construction field in management and want to be able to manage projects would construction management program or the project management benefit me. What’s the difference? or should i take both programs. Help me out

Project managers are not bosses; they just make sure a project moves forward, stays within budget and meets deadlines. Project management happens in many fields, such as technology development, medical research, and so on, not just construction.

Probably you should take construction management. If you later want to get a quickie certificate in project mgmt, fine – you could also just read Project Management for Dummies.

Developing a project program?

Question by Pasta Humes: Developing a project program?
Hi, I have recently started working in project management in a construction company and my boss has asked me to write something on how would I develop a project program. I have researched on internet and went to him with my conclusions but he didn’t like what I wrote. He said he wont help me but at least this time he gave me three ‘key words’: Design, Construction, and Commissioning. I don’t know to relate them to steps in developing a project program. Any help will be greatly welcomed.

I believe, and this is mostly speculation, that what he wants is a plan put together that outlines the basic steps of a given project. This would include the three ‘key words’ but would need to be much more detailed. I am familiar with the basic engineering design/build process, but it should be analogous to construction. At the highest level a project plan might look something like this:

1) Design
2) Conceptual Refinement
3) Customer Approval
4) Construction
5) Commissioning

This is VERY basic, but it sounds like that is what he is looking for. Now under each heading is a LOT of detailed information that would take to long to describe here. Under design, for example, you would have things like site evaluations, soil testing, power requirements, things of that nature.

There is A LOT that goes into project management, and if this is your first foray into the field then I would recommend taking a look around the web for pm sites. There are a lot of good references out there for free. One of the ones that springs to mind is linked below.
